For Karachi, this will be this year’s fourth heat wave, several Karachi-based hospitals have been put on high alert for any heatstroke emergencies till Thursday. Coastal winds are expected to remain calm for the next few days, the temperatures are expected to be scorching high for this time frame before dispersion and any rainfall.

Warmer Than Usual

As you’d expect, this year’s weather is much warmer than usual and should prevail for the coming weeks, Met Dept’s DG Dr. Ghulam Rasool told Geo News. Furthermore, the researchers expect the weather to ease up mid-June, as the rainy season will help cool down the climate. For now, however, rainfall is highly unlikely.

The DG says,

The demand for water would increase due to hot weather, but the beginning of monsoon around mid-June would decrease drought-like conditions,

Moreover, Mohenjo Daro recorded a scorching 50°C this Tuesday – making it one of the hottest places in Pakistan, followed by Shaheed Benazirabad at 49°C and then Larkana, Dadu, and Jacobabad.

If you live in one of these areas, you should take precautionary measures ASAP to prevent heatstroke induced problems. Doctor’s have advised spending more and more time in the shade while limiting your outdoor activities and keeping yourself hydrated.
